Law School Ranks Top Third in U.S. News Ranking

The ranking of 61 out of the 196 ABA Accredited law schools chosen for selection by U.S. News puts Seton Hall firmly within the Top Third of law schools in the nation, with the Law School ranking in the top 31 percent. The overall U.S. News ranking places Seton Hall as the best in New Jersey and within the Top 10 Catholic Law Schools in the United States, tied at #6.

 

Kip Cornwell, the Interim Dean of the Law School, credits the school’s “one student at a time” philosophy that focuses on providing students with the tools they need to hit the ground running. As a result, students graduating in 2022 passed the bar exam in their first attempt at a rate more than 14% above the average passage rates for the states where students took the exam. In addition, Seton Hall’s class of 2022 had a 93% employment rate in legal and professional positions. According to Cornwell, “Our faculty and staff partner with our students to work towards the best result for each and every graduate so they can achieve lifelong success in the legal profession. According to U.S. News (ABA report numbers) the Bar Passage, First-Time Takers rate for Seton Hall Law places Seton Hall at #32 among all law schools in the nation for that important metric.

 

According to U.S. News (which uses ABA report numbers), Seton Hall Law graduates had employment outcomes 10 Months after graduation that places Seton Hall at #50 in the nation for that metric.

 

Part-Time Program #12 in the Nation
In 2023 the Part-Time program achieved its second highest ranking in Seton Hall history and was tied at #12; this year the program took that ground for itself and was again ranked #12 in the nation, though it is now no longer tied. U.S. News ranked a total of 68 ABA Accredited part-time programs; Seton Hall’s ranking at #12 places it in the Top 20 percent (17.6 percent) of all programs. Notably, the part-time law program at Seton Hall is one of the only hybrid programs in the country that allows students to earn a JD on the weekend.

 

Health Law #10 in the Nation
As part of its law school rankings, U.S. News also ranks what it calls “Specialties” within the law. Home to the renowned Center for Health & Pharmaceutical Law, Seton Hall Law has long been known as a leader in Health Care Law and has ranked within the Top 15 in U.S. News for decades. This year the program rose one place, putting it again in the Top 10.
