Carter Massengill is a rising 3L at Seton Hall Law. He is an Articles Editor for the Law Review, works as a Research Assistant with the News Features team, and serves as the Vice President of the St. Thomas More Society. Prior to law school, he worked at J.P. Morgan Asset Management. Carter earned his B.A. from Middlebury College.

As you wrap up finals, the last thing you probably want to think about is another writing assignment. Well, here it is: the Journal Write-On Competition. And while it might not be the most fun way to start the summer, you absolutely should do it.

It might be tempting to dismiss the Competition as optional or something you’ll do “next year.” But if you are even considering participating on a Journal, you should complete the Write-On. You can always turn down an invitation. That said, you should not turn down the opportunity to join the Law Review or Journal of Legislation and Public Policy.

Barristers’ Ball: Balancing Studies with Social Connection

For many in the legal profession, the concept of work-life balance seems elusive. Perhaps a narrative shift is needed: one that doesn’t compartmentalize work and life, but integrates them. Barristers’ Ball, an annual event hosted by the Student Bar Association (SBA), offers students a chance to unwind and rejuvenate while immersing themselves in the legal community. Barristers’ was held on March 23 at an exciting new venue, The Legacy Castle in Pompton Plains, NJ, which exuded an atmosphere of refinement with its soaring ceilings and chandeliers.
